A beautiful coffee cup & saucer by George Jones' Crescent China factory. The cup of 'CHAD' shape  - conical and with an angular handle, Both pieces entirely hand painted in the manner of Birbeck. Specimens of pink red and white roses amongst foliage and grasses of various shades. Insects hover in the air above - moths butterflies and ladybirds. Gold trim and with a highly decorated gilt handle. Impressed mark. Pattern number 4642, dating to c1878. No dameg found, both pieces ring well. Slight wear to gilt in centre of saucer where the cup rests, through use.6550  Height approx 2 3/4" cup rim approx 3 1/4"
